​Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesman for the Labour Party’s presidential campaign, has expressed his intention to support any presidential candidate—whether from the southern or northern regions—who commits to serving only a single four-year term.

He emphasizes that this stance is rooted in principles of equity and fairness, aligning with Nigeria’s unwritten tradition of rotational presidency. Okonkwo stated that the candidate’s willingness to adhere to a single-term pledge will significantly influence his support. ​

Beyond endorsing a single-term commitment, Okonkwo advocates for a unified opposition front to challenge the incumbent administration. He draws parallels with the strategy employed by the opposition in 2013, which culminated in their victory in 2015, suggesting that a consolidated effort is essential to unseat the current government. In February 2025, Okonkwo resigned from the Labour Party, citing concerns over internal dynamics. He continues to advocate for strategic political alliances and emphasizes the importance of equitable power-sharing arrangements in Nigeria’s political landscape.
