Kogi Police Urge Senator Natasha to Cancel Homecoming Visit

Senator Natasha Advised by Kogi Police to Cancel Visit

The Kogi State Police Command has advised Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to cancel her planned Sallah rally in the Central Senatorial District of Kogi State. Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye, through Police Public Relations Officer ASP William Aya, stated that the rally contravenes the state government’s recent ban on political gatherings, implemented due to security concerns. The police highlighted intelligence reports indicating potential hijacking of the event by hoodlums, which could disrupt the state’s peace.

Despite the government’s directive, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has affirmed her intention to proceed with the visit, emphasizing her commitment to celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with her constituents. She has urged supporters to disregard rumors of cancellation, stating that all necessary arrangements have been made for a successful event.

The state government maintains that the ban on rallies and public gatherings is a preventive measure against potential security threats, citing intelligence reports of planned violent rallies under the guise of political and religious agitations. They have warned that any individual or group attempting to hold such events will face legal consequences.
