Former Kano State Governor and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has criticized the Kano State Police Command over a recent terror alert issued ahead of the Tijjaniyya Sufi Order’s annual Maulud celebration. The police had warned of potential terrorist attacks targeting public gatherings in the state.
Kwankwaso expressed concern that the alert not only jeopardized the success of the event but also instilled unnecessary fear among residents and attendees from other regions. He emphasized that such actions could lead to public complacency during genuine threats in the future.
The Kano State Government condemned the police’s actions, describing them as unnecessary and unjustified. They emphasized that the Maulud has been held for 39 consecutive years without incident and called for the withdrawal of security personnel to allow the event to proceed unhindered.
