LA Archdiocese Settles $880M Abuse Claims: A Historic Move

Massive $880 Million Settled by Los Angeles Archdiocese for Abuse Victims

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has agreed to pay $880 million to settle claims from 1,353 victims of clergy sexual abuse.

This settlement is the largest of its kind involving a Catholic archdiocese, bringing the total payout by the Archdiocese to over $1.5 billion.

The abuse cases span decades, and the settlement was reached after extensive negotiations.

Archbishop José Gomez expressed deep regret and hope that the settlement would offer some healing to the survivors.
