Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State recently announced a new minimum wage of N85,000 for state workers, with plans to increase it to N100,000 by January 2024.
This move comes in response to the rising cost of living and economic challenges in Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the wage increase is aimed at improving the welfare of workers while considering the state’s financial capabilities.
This wage hike reflects Lagos State’s effort to cushion its workforce against inflation and the recent removal of fuel subsidies, which have significantly impacted living expenses.
