A Lagos Special Offences Court in Ikeja has sentenced Dennis Adeniran Adetoye to one year imprisonment for visa fraud.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) arrested Adetoye at the British Deputy High Commission in Lagos after he presented forged documents, including an invitation letter, in his visa application.
This case highlights ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to combat visa-related fraud. In a similar incident, an American businessman, Marco Antonio Ramirez, was sentenced to 68 years in prison by a Lagos court for defrauding applicants of $1.6 million under the pretense of securing U.S. EB-5 visas.
