Let Heaven Fall: Nyesom Wike Pledges to Intensify Demolitions in Abuja

Nyesom Wike’s Bold Stand: Continued Demolitions in Abuja Explained

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has reaffirmed his determination to continue demolishing illegal structures in Abuja, despite mounting protests and criticism.

Speaking at an event where operational vehicles were distributed to security agencies, Wike stated that his administration would not succumb to blackmail or public outcry, emphasizing that the demolitions are aimed at reclaiming government land and ensuring public safety.

Wike has been resolute in his stance, saying, “Let heaven fall,” as he pledged to hold firm against opposition.

He highlighted that many of the affected structures were unauthorized and posed security risks.

Furthermore, he warned residents and developers against rebuilding structures on cleared sites until the government finalizes plans for the areas, which may include development into public infrastructure like bus terminals.

Protests led by activists, including Deji Adeyanju, have called for a halt to the demolitions, citing the plight of displaced residents.

While Wike acknowledged their concerns, he insisted that his priority remains transforming Abuja into a world-class city, even if it means taking tough measures.
