Luigi Mangione, a murder suspect accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, reportedly harbored extremist ideologies and a hatred for health insurance corporations.
Evidence suggests Mangione had planned more violent acts, including bombing Manhattan, based on a disturbing handwritten to-do list found by investigators.
His notes reflected grievances against corporate greed and the U.S. healthcare system, drawing inspiration from figures like Ted Kaczynski, the “Unabomber”.
Mangione, a University of Pennsylvania graduate, was apprehended in Pennsylvania after being identified as the shooter in Thompson’s assassination, which took place outside a New York hotel.
Police recovered items linking him to the crime, including fraudulent IDs and a weapon consistent with the one used in the attack.
