Malaysia’s Phase-Out of CNG: Safety Concerns Addressed by Presidency

Presidency’s Role in Ensuring CNG Safety During Malaysia’s Transition Plan

The Nigerian Presidency has defended the safety of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a fuel option, especially in light of Malaysia’s recent plan to phase out CNG vehicles.

Malaysia, which has been a proponent of CNG as an alternative to traditional gasoline and diesel, is transitioning away from it due to safety and environmental concerns.

In response, Nigerian officials have assured that CNG remains a safe and viable alternative fuel option in Nigeria, where it is seen as a more environmentally friendly choice compared to other fossil fuels.

The Nigerian government emphasized that it has implemented strict safety protocols for the use of CNG and that the fuel remains a critical part of the country’s strategy to reduce emissions and promote cleaner energy sources.

While some countries may be rethinking their commitment to CNG, Nigeria is doubling down on its investment in CNG infrastructure, with a focus on improving safety standards and expanding its use in the transportation sector.
