Man Arrested for Hacking Brother to Death in Edo

Edo Man Charged with Brother’s Hacking Death

​On March 25, 2025, the Edo State Police Command arrested 34-year-old Iyayi Omokaro for allegedly killing his elder brother, 38-year-old Friday Omokaro, in Uzalla Community, Uhunmwode Local Government Area.

According to police spokesperson CSP Moses Yamu, the brothers had a misunderstanding that escalated into a physical altercation, during which Iyayi reportedly used a cutlass to inflict fatal wounds on Friday. Officers from the Ahor Division, along with local vigilantes, responded to a distress call around 3:30 p.m. and found Friday in a pool of blood.

He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The alleged murder weapon was recovered at the scene. Iyayi has confessed to the crime and remains in custody pending further investigation and subsequent arraignment.
