Manchester United are finalizing a deal to sign Patrick Dorgu, a 20-year-old Danish left wing-back from Lecce, for an initial €30 million (£25.1 million), with an additional €5 million (£4.2 million) in potential add-ons.
This acquisition marks the first signing under head coach Rúben Amorim, who identified the left wing-back position as a key area needing reinforcement.
Dorgu is expected to arrive in England soon to complete the transfer, though his debut may be delayed due to the team’s current commitments in Romania for a Europa League match against FCSB.
The club aims to register him by the Premier League’s noon deadline on Friday to make him eligible for the upcoming match against Crystal Palace.
To facilitate this signing, United have loaned winger Antony to Real Betis, with the Spanish club covering at least 84% of his £200,000-a-week salary. Additionally, left-back Tyrell Malacia has been offered to Betis, and discussions are ongoing to offload midfielder Casemiro, which would further alleviate the wage bill.
