A Federal High Court in Calabar, Cross River State, has sentenced Dr. Geraldine Orok Ita to seven years imprisonment for fraud involving N127,686,594.87.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecuted Dr. Ita on a 12-count charge, including forgery and diversion of funds.
The court found that she falsified corporate documents and unlawfully diverted N45 million paid by the University of Calabar for a project executed by her companies, ROK Projects Limited and Sharpnet Concept Limited.
Justice Rosemary Oghoghorie delivered the verdict after determining that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.
