Former Nigerian international John Obi Mikel has expressed skepticism regarding Mikel Arteta’s ability to lead Arsenal to Premier League glory. While acknowledging Arteta’s improvements to the team, Mikel questioned whether the current manager can elevate the club to win major titles. He emphasized that Arsenal should aim for league victories rather than merely competing.
Mikel further suggested that if Arteta does not secure the league title in the upcoming season, he should consider leaving the club.
Arsenal’s most recent league title was in the 2003/04 season, known for their “Invincibles” campaign. Currently, they trail leaders Liverpool by 15 points, with 10 games remaining.
Looking ahead, Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures include a match against Chelsea on March 16, 2025.
