A 20-year-old woman in New York City may face criminal charges after she suffered a miscarriage in a Manhattan restaurant bathroom.
The incident occurred on September 30, when the fetus, approximately 22 to 23 weeks gestation, was left behind in the toilet, clogging it.
Authorities are considering charges of “concealment of a human corpse,” a felony, as it was found that the fetus may have taken one or two breaths before passing away.
The NYPD is consulting with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office to determine the next steps.
