NAFDAC has denied approving a purported “lung-cleansing herbal tea” that claims to make smoking safer or cleanse smokers’ lungs.
The agency clarified that it does not endorse any product that promotes or appears to encourage smoking, as this contradicts public health goals.
NAFDAC emphasized that all products making health claims must undergo rigorous evaluation before they are registered, and it strictly regulates such approvals to protect consumers.
The agency reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health and urged Nigerians to verify the authenticity of such claims before using unverified products.
