Nigerian singer Naira Marley has expressed profound relief and frustration following a Lagos Magistrate Court’s ruling that exonerated him, music promoter Sam Larry, and Owodunni Ibrahim (also known as Primeboy) from any involvement in the death of fellow artist Mohbad. The court determined that while there had been an unlawful assault on Mohbad by the accused, it did not amount to criminal responsibility for his death.
In a heartfelt message shared on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Naira Marley conveyed his anguish over being publicly vilified during the investigation. He lamented, “You let them tear me apart. You let them call me a killer while you sat there, knowing the truth.”
Despite previous disagreements, Naira Marley revealed that he and Mohbad had reconciled prior to the latter’s untimely passing. He criticized the delays in Mohbad’s burial and the evolving narratives surrounding his death, expressing that these actions exacerbated his personal torment.
The court’s ruling also indicated that the auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who administered an injection to Mohbad, along with Mohbad’s friend Ayobami, would be prosecuted for “reckless and negligent acts.”
This development brings a significant turn in the case, highlighting the complexities and emotional toll experienced by those involved.
