Navy Arrests Three Drug Peddlers in Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom: Navy Detains Three Suspected Drug Dealers

​On March 29, 2025, personnel from the Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Ibaka, Akwa Ibom State, apprehended three individuals suspected of drug peddling. The arrests took place in Ibaka, Mbo Local Government Area, where the suspects were found in possession of a significant quantity of Indian hemp. The Navy has confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

This operation underscores the Nigerian Navy’s ongoing commitment to combating illicit activities along the nation’s waterways and coastal regions. By targeting drug trafficking networks, the Navy aims to enhance security and promote lawful economic activities in maritime communities.​

In a related development, on March 28, 2025, the Nigerian Navy Ship DELTA conducted “Operation DELTA SANITY,” during which an illegal refining site was discovered and dismantled at Bennet Island, Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State. Two suspected crude oil thieves were apprehended during this operation and are also slated for transfer to the appropriate authorities.
