The Lagos State Police Command has arrested both the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) and the complainant in connection with the death of Abdulmujid Oduga, a newlywed man who died while in custody at the Ikota Police Post in the Ajah area.
The incident reportedly began on February 11, 2025, following a dispute between Oduga and a female neighbor, which led to his arrest and subsequent detention. Allegations have surfaced that Oduga was subjected to torture during his detention, resulting in his death. In response, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that both the IPO and the complainant are currently detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death, and the police have assured the public of a thorough investigation, promising that any individuals found culpable will face legal consequences.
