The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has refuted recent rumors suggesting that Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle is considering terminating his contract. NFF Head of Communications, Ademola Olajire, dismissed the reports as an April Fool’s prank.
He clarified, “This is April Fool prank by Osasu Obayiuwana,” effectively putting to rest the rumors surrounding Chelle’s tenure.
Chelle, appointed in January 2025, has managed the Super Eagles in two matches: a 2-0 victory against Rwanda and a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe. The team’s performance has been under scrutiny, especially with Nigeria’s position in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Currently, Nigeria sits fourth in Group C with seven points from six matches, trailing leaders South Africa, who have 13 points
