NFF Withdraws Super Eagles from AFCON Qualifier

Super Eagles’ AFCON Qualifier Withdrawal Amid Airport Travel Issues

There have been reports suggesting that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has pulled the Super Eagles from their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier following the team’s poor treatment at a Libyan airport.

The players were reportedly stranded for almost 20 hours, facing difficult conditions with no food, no proper resting arrangements, and lack of internet access.

This led to public outrage and expressions of frustration from both players and fans, including statements made by the team captain, William Troost-Ekong.

The NFF’s decision to withdraw the team from the AFCON qualifier, if confirmed, would reflect the federation’s dissatisfaction with the travel logistics and the overall mistreatment of the players.

Such a decision could have serious implications for Nigeria’s chances in the AFCON tournament and may result in sanctions or penalties from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

This move might also be aimed at sending a strong message to ensure that such poor travel arrangements do not happen again.

However, the official confirmation of the NFF’s decision and any potential consequences are still awaited, as fans and stakeholders anticipate further developments.
