Nigeria Premier League Fines Shooting Stars ₦5m After Attack

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has fined Shooting Stars Sports Club ₦5 million and imposed a stadium ban on their fans following a violent incident after their match against Ikorodu City.

The decision comes after fans of Shooting Stars attacked the visiting team, vandalizing their bus and attempting to breach the dressing room area at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

The NPFL’s disciplinary action includes:​

  • ₦5 million fine: Imposed on Shooting Stars for the misconduct of their supporters.​
  • Stadium ban: Fans are prohibited from attending Shooting Stars’ home games until further notice.​

The league’s chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, emphasized the NPFL’s commitment to maintaining discipline and ensuring the safety of all participants in the league. ​
