On March 18, 2025, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) of Ghana arrested Uchechukwu Chima, a 56-year-old Nigerian national, in Oyarifa, a suburb of Accra. Chima, a long-time suspect in drug trafficking investigations, was apprehended following an intelligence-led operation.
A search of Chima’s residence uncovered approximately 192 kilograms of cocaine and 0.42 kilograms of heroin, with an estimated street value of $2.1 million. Field tests confirmed the substances as narcotics.
This arrest underscores NACOC’s commitment to combating drug trafficking in Ghana and the West African region. The agency continues to collaborate with international partners to address the challenges posed by transnational drug trafficking networks.
Chima is currently in custody, assisting authorities with further investigations. The case highlights the ongoing efforts to disrupt the operations of drug trafficking syndicates in the region.
