In the early hours of Saturday, February 15, 2025, a tragic incident occurred on South Anne Street in Dublin, Ireland, where 34-year-old Nigerian asylum seeker Quam Babatunde was fatally stabbed.
Babatunde had attended a rap concert earlier that evening and was reportedly uninvolved in the altercation between two groups that led to his death. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at St. James’s Hospital. A second man in his 30s also sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.
Authorities are currently reviewing video footage and CCTV recordings to identify those responsible for this senseless act. Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan condemned the violence, emphasizing the necessity for increased police presence to prevent similar incidents in the future.
