Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, experienced a significant decline in the latest FIFA rankings.
Dropping from 36th to 44th globally, the Super Eagles saw their biggest decline in recent years.
This change places Nigeria as the 5th best team in Africa, behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria.
The drop in rankings follows disappointing performances in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where Nigeria struggled with a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic and a 2-1 loss to Rwanda at home.
The Super Eagles’ point tally has now decreased from 1503 to 1482.23.
