The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced the successful completion of the National Identification Number (NIN) linkage to all phone numbers in the country.
This initiative, which began in 2020, aims to enhance national security by ensuring that every phone number is linked to a verified identity through a NIN.
The Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Aminu Maida, acknowledged the challenges Nigerians faced during the process but emphasized its importance in combating crime and fraud.
With the completion of this policy, it is now possible to trace any phone number to its registered user, which is expected to assist law enforcement in tracking criminal activities.
