Ensuring Power Supply: NMDPRA’s Commitment to Fueling GenCos
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has refuted claims that it directed a halt to gas supply to electricity generating companies (GenCos).
The allegations stemmed from reports linking the supposed action to a N2 trillion debt owed by the federal government to gas producers.
In a recent statement, the NMDPRA called these claims “false and completely unfounded.”
The agency clarified that no such directive was issued during a stakeholders’ engagement held in Lagos, which focused on educating participants about the implementation of the wholesale supply license under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
The NMDPRA reassured stakeholders that efforts are ongoing to ensure the continuous and seamless distribution of natural gas and petroleum products, particularly during the festive season and beyond.
