NNPC Challenges Misleading Claims About Dangote Refinery

NNPC Responds to Dangote Refinery Petrol Duration Claims

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has refuted claims made in a viral video alleging that petrol from its outlets is of inferior quality compared to that from the Dangote Refinery. In an official statement released on February 15, 2025, NNPC described the video as “mischievous and misleading,” asserting that it is a deliberate attempt to tarnish the company’s reputation.

The contentious video features an individual conducting a comparison test between petrol purportedly purchased from NNPC and Dangote outlets, suggesting that the latter’s fuel lasts longer. NNPC’s Chief Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, dismissed these assertions as baseless, emphasizing that both fuels are sourced from the same suppliers, thereby ensuring uniform quality standards.

NNPC has expressed its commitment to maintaining high-quality fuel standards and has warned that it will pursue legal action against individuals or groups disseminating false information intended to mislead the public and undermine its operations.
