Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), has confirmed that the corporation has ceased importing refined petroleum products.
Instead, NNPC now sources fuel exclusively from domestic refineries, including the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
This shift follows the federal government’s deregulation of the downstream sector, allowing other marketers to purchase directly from local refineries.
Kyari emphasized that the decision supports the country’s efforts to manage foreign exchange pressures and inflation linked to fuel imports.
