Northern Nigeria’s Education Crisis: UNICEF Reports 15.23 Million Out-of-School Children

Urgent Call to Action: Bashir Ahmad Highlights Educational Crisis in Northern Nigeria

Bashir Ahmad, a prominent Nigerian politician and aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, has raised alarm over a serious educational crisis in Northern Nigeria following a recent UNICEF report.

The report revealed that there are 15.23 million out-of-school children in the northern part of the country, compared to just 2.58 million in the South.

Ahmad described the situation as a “serious educational crisis” that urgently requires attention and intervention.

The stark disparity between the North and South in terms of school enrollment and access to education has sparked widespread concern, with calls for increased investment in education, particularly in the Northern states.

Ahmad has emphasized the need for both government and private sector efforts to address the root causes of this crisis, including poverty, insecurity, cultural barriers, and lack of infrastructure.

The UNICEF report highlights the deep inequalities in educational access, which are exacerbated by regional disparities, and urges immediate action to ensure that every child in Nigeria has the opportunity to receive an education.

The issue has become a focal point in discussions about Nigeria’s future, with many calling for targeted policies and reforms to tackle the education gap.
