A nurse in Virginia has been arrested following a series of disturbing incidents involving newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond. Erin Elizabeth Ann Strotman, 26, faces charges of malicious wounding and felony child abuse after several infants were found with unexplained injuries and bone fractures.

The investigation began after four babies sustained injuries, including fractures, in the summer of 2023. Despite internal investigations and increased security measures, three additional cases emerged in November and December 2024. This led the hospital to temporarily cease admitting new patients to the NICU on December 24, 2024.

Strotman was arrested on January 3, 2025, after being identified as a suspect in the November incidents. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and re-examining previous cases to determine if she is connected to other injuries. The hospital has expressed shock and sadness over the developments and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
