The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Odukaye Kunle, who was captured in a viral video violently assaulting his son, Boluwatife, in Otta, Ogun State. The disturbing footage, which surfaced online recently, shows Kunle kicking his young son, prompting widespread public outrage and a swift response from law enforcement.
Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the arrest, stating that Kunle is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday to face charges related to child abuse. Meanwhile, Boluwatife and his mother have been taken to the police medical center in Otta for comprehensive medical evaluation and care.
The incident came to light after a social media user shared the distressing video, urging the Ogun State Police Command to take immediate action against the perpetrator. The footage depicts Kunle aggressively kicking his son, who was dressed in his school uniform and carrying a backpack, sparking widespread condemnation and calls for justice.
In response to the public outcry, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team acted promptly to ensure the safety of the child and the apprehension of the suspect. Adejobi commended their efforts, emphasizing the importance of protecting children’s rights and ensuring that such acts of violence do not go unpunished.
