Ogun Police Raid Kidnappers’ Den on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway: 5 Suspects Killed

Dramatic Rescue on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as Ogun Police Neutralize Kidnappers

On January 29, 2025, operatives of the Ogun State Police Command successfully rescued three kidnapped victims and neutralized five suspected kidnappers along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The incident occurred near Ilishan, following a distress call from commuters reporting an armed robbery in progress.

Upon receiving the alert, the Sagamu Area Commander promptly dispatched a team to the scene. The officers engaged in a gun battle with the suspects, resulting in the deaths of five kidnappers. The rescued victims were unharmed during the operation.

The police recovered one AK-47 rifle, 10 rounds of 5.6mm ammunition, ₦5.2 million suspected to be proceeds of crime, and three mobile phones from the scene. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who may have escaped with injuries.
