In a tragic incident in Ajowa Akoko, Ondo State, a 34-year-old man named Monday Elela has been arrested for allegedly killing his 14-year-old son, Tope Elela, over the boy’s repeated involvement in criminal activities. Elela, a father of seven, reportedly buried his son’s body in a shallow grave behind their residence.

According to reports, Tope had a history of engaging in theft and other criminal behaviors, leading to multiple arrests by local authorities, including the police and the Amotekun Corps.

Elela claimed that his son’s actions brought embarrassment to the family, prompting him and his wife to take drastic measures to address the situation.

Elela recounted that after Tope’s latest escape from custody, he and his wife physically disciplined the boy by spanking him.

He stated that Tope later ate, bathed, and went to sleep, but was found unresponsive the following morning. In a state of panic, Elela and his wife decided to bury their son in a shallow grave behind their house.

The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended Elela, while his wife remains at large. The Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing.

He urged residents to report any suspicious activities and assured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring justice in the matter.
