Oyo Polytechnic Students Hospitalized Due to Gas Inhalation

Poisonous Gas Incident at Oyo Polytechnic: 10 Students Affected

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, approximately 10 students from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, were hospitalized after collapsing due to inhaling a suspected poisonous gas.

The affected students, primarily from the Science Laboratory and Technology Department, were in their lecture hall following a test when the incident occurred.

Upon receiving a distress call, the Oyo State government responded promptly. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, led an emergency response team to the scene.

The affected students were swiftly evacuated and are currently receiving treatment at Ring Road State Hospital and the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan.
