Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has refuted rumors suggesting he plans to leave the party. Addressing members during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on April 9, 2025, Obi stated, “I’ve not told anybody that I’m leaving the Labour Party.”
This clarification comes amid speculations about his political future and potential alliances ahead of the 2027 elections. Obi emphasized his commitment to the Labour Party and its objectives. He also highlighted the party’s intention to correct past mistakes in future elections, ensuring the right candidates emerge.
In addition to addressing party matters, Obi urged Nigerians to speak up about the country’s challenges, stating, “Nigeria is collapsing, don’t fear anybody.”
