On March 30, 2025, around 9:20 PM, the Nasarawa State Police Command responded to a distress call reporting an attack at a student lodge behind Nasara Estate, Tudun Kauri, Lafia. During this incident, two students from the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), identified as Sadiq Adinoyi and Sakina Adinoyi, were abducted.
Acting swiftly on the directive of Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed, operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and ‘A’ Division, Lafia, were mobilized to track down the perpetrators. Utilizing technical intelligence, the rescue team located the victims in a forest behind the 500 Housing Unit along Doma Road, Lafia. Upon engaging the kidnappers in a gun duel, the assailants were overwhelmed by the police’s firepower and fled in various directions, abandoning the abducted students, who were subsequently rescued unharmed.
During the operation, one suspect, Ibrahim Musa of Abuni village in Awe Local Government Area, was apprehended at the scene. He has provided valuable information and is assisting with ongoing investigations. Commissioner Mohammed commended the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for their relentless efforts and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime head-on. He urged officers to remain steadfast in their mission to rid the state of criminal activities.
