Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has been charged with assaulting a Bolt driver at his residence in Abuja.
The charges include abuse of office and threats to life.
Ikwechegh pleaded not guilty in court and was granted bail set at N500,000 with two sureties.
The case is set for a hearing on November 8. A video allegedly showing Ikwechegh slapping the driver during the incident has sparked public outrage.
