Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a couple, Emmanuel and Mmesoma Okafor, for allegedly kidnapping an online vendor in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos.
The incident occurred when the victim, an online vendor, agreed to meet Mmesoma, who had expressed interest in purchasing clothes.
Upon arrival at the agreed location, the victim was lured into the couple’s apartment, where she was reportedly stripped naked, beaten, photographed, and filmed. The suspects then demanded a ransom of ₦500,000 from the victim’s relatives, threatening to release the explicit content if their demands were not met.
The victim’s family promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of the suspects. The Lagos State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and has urged the public to exercise caution when engaging in transactions with strangers
