On February 16, 2025, the Niger State Police Command successfully rescued Nasiru Idris, a resident of Farin-Ruwa in Kebbi State, who had been abducted and found in Mariga Forest with padlocked chains around his neck and hands.
The rescue operation occurred during a routine patrol along the Bangi-Kontagora road, led by the Divisional Police Officer of ‘A’ Division Kontagora. Upon sighting the police, the kidnappers abandoned Idris and fled the scene. The victim has since been provided with necessary medical attention and reunited with his family.
This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Niger State, including recent abductions such as that of Daina Usman, the Council Secretary of Munya Local Government Area, along with his family and a neighbor. Efforts are underway to secure the release of these individuals and address the broader issue of kidnapping in the region.
