In Anambra State, police successfully thwarted a kidnap attempt involving a foreigner at Ogbunka village in Aguata Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out by the state’s police command, involved a gun battle with the suspects, identified as members of an armed secessionist group.
The victim was rescued unharmed, although two police officers were injured during the exchange. They are currently in stable condition and receiving treatment.
The police recovered the victim’s vehicle and intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The operation highlights the state’s commitment to combating crime under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono Itam, who emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of residents and visitors in Anambra.
