In Rivers State, the police successfully rescued a businessman, Madabuchi Julius, who was abducted by a four-man gang at a filling station in the Oyigbo Local Government Area.
The operation unfolded after a distress call alerted the authorities.
The kidnappers fled after a gun duel with police, abandoning both the victim and their operational vehicle, which was recovered at the scene.
The victim was unharmed and has since been reunited with his family.
Following this, the police arrested a suspect, Gabriel Morris, believed to be part of the gang responsible for terrorizing Oyigbo and its environs.
Recovered from him were a locally-made pistol and some substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang and recover their weapons.
