The Nigeria Police Force has expressed concerns over the planned protest by the ‘Take It Back Movement’ scheduled for April 7, 2025. The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has labeled the protest as “ill-conceived,” citing intelligence reports suggesting that the demonstration could be exploited to incite violence and unrest.
The police have emphasized the necessity for organizers to adhere to legal requirements by providing essential details such as routes, venues, and timings to ensure public safety. However, the organizers have reportedly not furnished this information.
Consequently, all police formations nationwide have been placed on alert, with directives to act decisively against any acts of arson, intimidation, or harassment that may arise from the planned protest. The police have also warned that perpetrators of any crimes during the protest will be arrested and prosecuted.
