English-born Nigerian footballer Jordan Chiedozie, 30, is in a critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on the M27 motorway near Southampton.
The incident occurred as he and Bashley FC’s physiotherapist, Reighan Taylor, were inspecting a flat tire on their VW Golf. While Taylor was unharmed, Chiedozie sustained multiple broken bones and is currently in a medically induced coma at Southampton Hospital.
The driver of the other vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Bashley FC has requested the postponement of their upcoming match, with team manager David Lewis emphasizing the club’s focus on supporting Chiedozie, his family, and Taylor during this challenging time.
Chiedozie, son of former Nigerian international John Chiedozie, has played for clubs including Bournemouth, Cambridge United, and Poole Town.
