On December 30, 2024, around 10:00 PM, gunmen abducted Emmanuel Tor Yaji, President General of the Kunav United Development Association, while he was with friends in his hometown of Tsar Mbaduku, Vandeikya Local Government Area, Benue State.
The Benue State Police Command promptly initiated a rescue operation. By December 31, 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM, officers located the kidnappers in Nambe Adikpo town, Kwande Local Government Area.
A gunfight ensued, resulting in the death of one kidnapper and the arrest of another, while two suspects escaped. Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle with twelve rounds of live ammunition and three magazines. Yaji was rescued unharmed and reunited with his family.
