Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recounted how he revoked a land title previously allocated to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.
During a speech at the flag-off ceremony for the construction of judges’ quarters, Wike explained that he had been searching for suitable land for the project and discovered that a large plot had been allocated to Julius Berger about 20 years ago but remained undeveloped.
After confirming the status of the land, Wike invited the Managing Director of Julius Berger for dinner but did not discuss the land during the meal.
The following day, the company received a revocation letter.
When the MD contacted Wike, noting their dinner, Wike responded that the land’s revocation was in the public interest due to its long period of inactivity.
The land will now be used for the construction of housing for judges.
