Richard Allen Sentenced to 130 Years for 2017 Double Murder of Teen Girls

Delphi Murders: Richard Allen Receives 130-Year Sentence for Gruesome 2017 Crime

Richard Allen, 52, has been sentenced to 130 years in prison for the 2017 murders of teenagers Liberty “Libby” German, 14, and Abigail “Abby” Williams, 13, in Delphi, Indiana.

The sentencing, delivered by Judge Frances Gull, imposes the maximum penalty of 65 years for each count, to be served consecutively.

During the sentencing, family members of the victims confronted Allen, expressing their profound grief and the enduring impact of the tragedy.

Despite maintaining his innocence and planning an appeal, Allen had previously confessed to the murders multiple times while incarcerated.

The case had remained unsolved for five years until Allen’s arrest in 2022. Key evidence included a bullet found at the crime scene, which was traced back to Allen’s gun, and video and audio recordings from the victims’ phones that helped identify him.

This sentencing brings a measure of closure to the Delphi community, which has been deeply affected by the loss of the two young girls.
