Rivers Crisis: Dele Momodu Urges President Tinubu to Act

Dele Momodu Warns: Rivers Crisis Threatens Nigeria’s Democracy

Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in Nigerian media and politics, has voiced strong opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. This action led to the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the state’s House of Assembly for six months.

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Momodu expressed concern that such measures undermine democratic principles. He stated, “I’m pleading with President Bola Tinubu, ‘please don’t kill democracy in Nigeria.’”

President Tinubu justified the state of emergency by citing political instability and recent pipeline vandalism in Rivers State, which have threatened national stability and disrupted oil production.
