In the wake of the recent state of emergency declared in Rivers State, significant administrative changes have occurred. Dr. George Nwaeke, the state’s Head of Service, has resigned from his position. The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, expressed regret over Nwaeke’s departure, acknowledging his contributions during his tenure.
Following this, Vice Admiral Ibas appointed Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG). Professor Worika, a legal expert and administrator from Okrika Local Government Area, was selected after a rigorous evaluation process that highlighted his extensive experience and academic credentials.
Additionally, Dr. Iyingi Brown, previously the Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, has been appointed as the Acting Head of Service. These appointments are part of the efforts to stabilize the state’s administration during the emergency period.
