PDP’s Response to Ganduje: Understanding the Political Landscape in Rivers State

The Edwin Woko-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has responded to All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje’s recent statement about the party’s ambition to win the 2027 governorship election in the state.

During the inauguration of the Tony Okocha-led APC state executive in Port Harcourt, Ganduje declared that capturing Rivers State’s Government House is a top priority for the APC in the upcoming election cycle.

In response, Woko firmly rejected Ganduje’s comments, stating that there is “no vacancy” in Rivers State in 2027.

He emphasized that the people of Rivers State had rejected the APC and would continue to do so, asserting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s second-term bid would be unhindered.

Woko further warned that any attempts to replicate alleged electoral manipulations, such as those claimed to have occurred during the Edo State governorship election, would not succeed in Rivers State. He asserted that elections in the state would be determined by the will of the people, not through fraud or interference.
