Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, had to cancel his trip to Samoa after an alarming incident occurred mid-flight when a “foreign object” struck the plane, damaging the cockpit windscreen.
Shettima was en route to represent Nigeria at a key international event when the flight was interrupted.
The details surrounding the exact nature of the object that hit the plane remain unclear, but the damage was significant enough to force the aircraft to abort the trip and return to Abuja for safety reasons.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the crew was able to handle the situation professionally. The incident has raised safety concerns, prompting an investigation into how the foreign object hit the plane and whether it posed a deliberate threat or was an unfortunate accident.
Vice President Shettima’s office has confirmed that alternative arrangements are being considered regarding his international engagements, but his safety remains the top priority.
